The Balsa Advantage Boards in Action Buolding Balsa Boards as Art Rider Gallery Contact Us

Our boards are built to perform first and foremost. While wood boards are notorious for being too heavy, we have developed new techniques to keep boards relatively light. While they may not be quite as light as foam boards, the "sacrifice" is well worth the benefits. In fact many riders prefer the extra few pounds.

The durability of our boards is unsurpassed. After more than five years of use, none of our boards show stress marks because they do not flex as much as foam or veneer boards. The decks remain free of heel, knee and foot compression marks and other signs of aging. Since are materials are much harder than foam and veneer, the boards are resistant to dings. None of our boards have been broken or seriously damaged. Wouldn't it be nice to not have to worry about an incoming wave snapping your board while paddling out?

Momentum and speed is the biggest advantage of our boards. The extra weight allows riders to dig down deeper and take off with more speed. Remember all those times you wish you had that one extra stroke? On offshore days, the weight helps prevent wind from lifting the nose as you take off.

We put vent plugs on every board to prevent gas expansion from damaging the wood and fiberglass. As resin cures and chambered boards are exposed to heat, pressure inside the board builds up. The vent plug allows the pressure to be released when the board is not in use. A vent is necessary for any balsa board that is not solid wood.
